Hoosier Films was started by two native Hoosiers, husband and wife team Thomas DeCarlo and Meredith McGriff. It was created to address the lack of awareness of the thriving independent film scene in Indiana, and to provide distribution opportunities to Indiana filmmakers.

Meredith McGriff HeadshotMeredith McGriff is originally from Muncie, Indiana. She received her BA in Japanese and BFA in ceramics from Ball State University in 2007, and later returned to school to complete her MA in folklore with a concentration in public practice (2014) and her PhD in folklore with a minor in art history (2016) from Indiana University.

Meredith has worked for a variety of academic, cultural, and arts organizations, including Indiana University, Traditional Arts Indiana, and the American Folklore Society. Her book, The Michiana Potters, focuses on collaboration in the arts, using the pottery community in northern Indiana and southern Michigan as a case study to understand ways that professional artists can build a sense of community and support one another.

Meredith is the CEO of Hoosier Films and leads event planning, community partnerships, and internships. Contact her at meredith@hoosierfilms.com.
